HÈRMES Presents the Féroces et Fragiles, an Exhibit Celebrating the Art of Robert Dallet

This exhibit was launched to bring attention and awareness to the dangers facing "big cats" in the wild and their possible extinstiction. The exhibit was sponsored by Hermès and benefited the conservation group Panthera. 

My treasured "Equateur" scarf, featuring the leopard in the centre and other fauna illustrations from Equator. The wild cat illustrations and artwork make up the exhibit, "Féroces et Fragiles", the Fierce and Fragile.

The sketches build the foundation for the paintings and although just the preparation for future work, have an incredible magnetism.

Embellished Accessories

From Givenchy... The embellished block heel and the wrapped ankle make the sandal one of Spring's latest looks. A great sandal for cropped pants or longer, flowing hem lengths. 

From Miu Miu, the embellished sunglasses and bag... These accessories, are the outfit... A simple dress or high neck blouse and skirt in solid colors are all that is required. It is the embellished, statement accessories that standout and should be in a contrasting color to what you are wearing.

Gluten Free Pasta

“The “pasta print” from Dolce and Gabbana has dominated the spring collections and has been used for dress several silhouettes. The fun ribbon, tied in bows has “Made in Italy” written on it and evokes a “dolce vita” atmosphere. The dress is a definite statement and will always receive compliments and comments... And yes, its “gluten free”... ”

It all started in 1849... with Pauline MOYNAT

It was 1849 in Paris... and Pauline Moynat had a most unusual career, especially for a woman... She made trunks! At the time, there were no suitcases, when traveling... you took a trunk. And travel was reserved who those could afford such a luxury in the mid-19th century. Ms Moynat must have been very clever, with her innovations, she made lighter and "water-resistant" trunks.  

Pauline Moynat was the only woman, creating trunks for travel in Paris during her time. She understood the how luggage impacts travel and the necessity of protecting garments in trunks. She designed trunks to maximise space and efficiency.

We are all ready for bags to have quality, design and playfulness...! The new collection from Moynat is exactly that, the colors are bright, lively and they make you happy!

I was recently shopping in Paris and walked by, Moynat where I stopped to take pictures of the fabulous windows on rue Saint Honoré. I was immediately drawn to the colors and unique shapes and designs of the bags.

The established trunk makers, Coulembier collaborated with Pauline Moynat who was know for her travel merchandise in 1849, and the House of Moynat was founded. At the time they were known for their traditional expertise in creating made-to-order luggage and travel cases. Moynat became famous for the well designed trunks that were fitted for limousines and automobiles. Moynat's technical innovations, including making trunks lighter by utilising canvas and making them waterproof, kept them in business until 1976. The LVMH Group bought the House in 2011 and has revived it under the direction of Creative Director, Ramesh Nair.

Powder Blue Obsession

Double breasted coat from, Alexander McQueen is an absolute statement, in its self. With matching gloves and bag or complimentary accessories, this combination will melt the winter blues... No pun intended :)

Winter pastels have been lifting our spirits... But the dominate pastel has been, "powder blue", "airy blue" or "baby blue"... from dresses to coats to accessories... this pastel has is a statement color... The dress below is designed by MichaelKors, the high neck-line is a perfect contrast to the cap sleeves. Paired with 3/4 length gloves, this slim fitting, flattering dress is a statement in its self.  

Dolce and Gahanna designed a dress which is fit for a fairy princess... billowy chiffon... so feminine... You will make magic is a dress like the one above...!

How Fashionistas Shop in 5 Countries in 1 Day... EPCOT, of Course!

First stop, the UK! But not before our Magic Bands were secure and selected, in coordinated colors to match our #OOTD... A Fashionista pays special attention to details, especially when it come to accessories!  A Magic Band looks like a FitBit..! It is an all-in-one device for Disney World and a quick swipe gives you access to events, FastPasses, Monorails...etc... In the language of Fashion, it means; "You're on the list..."! And of course, no waiting...! Fashionistas can't wait, we're always running late... Things to do, places to go, people to meet... We're under demand!   

How does a Fashionista visit Epcot? She shops her way through...! Caress and I, with the boys in tow, shopped in 5 countries in 10 hours, thanks to the multicultural EPCOT at Disney World.

First stop the UK! Oh, yes...! "Just delightful"...! First purchase, a Beatles T-Shirt...! A pose with the Queen's Guard... a spot of tea in a Spode tea cup... locating the "Threadgill" family crest... "Is your name here...?" Eric found it immediately...! Then a little, St. Andrews golf memorabilia, and a smile with Mary Poppins... Can't stay too long... other countries await!!! But we had fun and memories to last a lifetime!

Now on to France! The Eiffel Tower is in the distance with blue sky and billowy clouds just behind. The scent of fresh baguettes is in the air, but since it is Christmas Eve Day, Caress suggests we celebrate with a glass of champagne! Salute! And then the alluring fragrances of Guerlain draw us in... And where I found my new "signature scent", "The Hour of the Night" or in French, "L'Heure de Nuit", "a promise of an unforgettable night in Paris"...  Vive la France...!  And on to a beret for handsome Brent, street artists in front of the bistro, who deified gravity,and lovely, talented artists creating scissors-cut portraits, crème glacée... of course, and lots of smiling, laughing, and enjoying!!!

On our way to Japan... and finding your pearl in an oyster!!! Yes, success!!! Next, a remembrance of Katz, our family gardner who is a Bonsai Master! A quick wave to Hello Kitty and it's lunch time... that means, time for sushi!  

A stroll along the Rhein River on our way to Germany....! Pretzels, beer and of course, STEIFF! What a chic, fun, new bag charm and so much more friendly than the trendy "monsters"!

Could it be, that I see... San Marco Square? - Bellissimo! - And a new treasure, an engraved Fragrance bottle from Aqua di Parma... Love is in the air...!!!

The Christmas Season in Vienna

The Christmas season is a magical time in Vienna, Austria. The city is filled with sparkling lights, festive window diplays and open Christmas markets which are held on various squares. The Christmas markets are a place for socializing, meeting friends for a "Glühwein" and shopping for handmade gifts. After the stores close, window shopping with the well light windows begins. One never tires of the walking down historical streets, looking into the inviting windows. By law, the stores are required to place the prices of merchandise in the display, so it can really be a productive shopping experience where you are able to return the next day and purchase an item that you saw the night before. Stores are closed on Sundays too, even in December, so window shopping is almost a hobby for some people. The most enticing season is definately at Christmas, with the lights hanging from above, covering the streets and you have the feeling of being in a magical winter wonderland!

The lovely new "Golden Triangle", home to many luxury stores and boutiques...! Christmas ornaments are hanging in the trees, below the lights...!

The "Kirche" (church) on the "Am Hof" Square is beautify lit at night and can be easily viewed while at the Christmas Market. The gothic church dates back to the 14th century...!

The "Christmas Cookies" window from, Demel, the K. und K. Hofzuckerbäcker, (Imperial and Royal) bakery, that provided sweets for even, "Sissi", Empress Elizabeth of Austria, and are still some of the most delectable in the world! Demel confectionary items were also available in New York at the Plaza Hotel, however they are moving to a new location and are now only available on-line at newyork@demel.com.

On the way to meet friends, following a stroll down the Kohlmarkt, past Loro Piana, Gucci, Ferragamo, Fendi, Christian Dior and Massimo Dutti to name a few...!

Entering the Hofburg Palace with a Christmas Market in front. It is worth noting that there are Roman ruins on this side of the Market... Yes, Vienna is filled with history!

The Euro prices are listed for merchandise which is displayed in the "Auslage" (display window).

The magnificent Park Hyatt has a Christmas market on its doorstep! The "Am Hof" Advent Market is popular with locals and when the outside market is too chilly, it is convienent to move to the hotel lounge or the Park Hyatt's exclusive Whiskey Bar.

The Hermès Tie...!

First created in 1949, in Monte Carlo for guests who needed to meet the dress code at the casino... The Hermès tie has become a statement accessory throughout the world. 

It is more than a tie, it is a legend that gets passed down to generations... My father had a wonderful collection of Hermés ties and adorable my nephew inherited a number of them from his grandfather's collection. 

Lighten Up Your Winter...!
